Kaitlyn Preston, PTA

Staff Physical Therapist Assistant

Kaitlyn “Kate” Preston is a physical therapist assistant who was born and raised in Severna Park, MD. Although she’s grown up further North, she has been enjoying the change of scenery and exploring all that St. Mary’s county has to offer. Her interest in physical therapy began at a young age and into adulthood with treatment of her own sports related injuries from softball and basketball. Kaitlyn enjoys having a career that helps others feel better and return to what they love.

Education

Kaitlyn graduated from the Physical Therapy Assistant program at California University of Pennsylvania in 2017. She did inpatient and outpatient clinical rotations at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center, which gave her great experience with total knee replacements who were early on in recovery. Her third clinical rotation was at an orthopedic outpatient clinic who treated workers comp and a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries.

Experience

Since graduating, Kaitlyn has spent the majority of her career in outpatient orthopedic setting. Before joining CAO Southern Maryland Division, she spent 4.5 years treating in Columbia, MD as part of CAO Central Maryland division. Treatment experience specializes in post surgical rehabilitation of rotator cuff repairs, total shoulder replacements, knee replacements, hip replacements, bicep repairs, ACL repairs, achilles repairs, and LS fusions to name just a few.

Philosophy

Kaitlyn’s philosophy is mastering basic movement patterns before adding load/resistance to ensure limited compensatory techniques and optimize outcome. She makes it a priority to tailor each treatment to a patient’s specific needs to ensure they can return to their favorite activity or pastime.

Personal

Kaitlyn enjoys staying active, whether it’s going on a camping trip with her boyfriend or just a walk around the neighborhood with their dog. She also enjoys trying out local restaurants and cooking up her own creations at home.
