Jay Hammett, PT, DPT

Staff Physical Therapist

Jay Hammett is a physical therapist serving the Southern Maryland community with a focus on orthopedic rehabilitation, sports-related injuries, and athletic performance. He has a particular interest in ACL rehabilitation, baseball-related injuries, and bridging the gap between traditional physical therapy and athletic performance. His approach combines evidence-based care, hands-on treatment, and progressive strength and conditioning to help patients achieve their goals.

Education

Jay earned his bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College of Maryland before completing his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He is committed to continuing education and advancing his clinical knowledge to provide evidence-based care. His professional interests include sports rehabilitation, orthopedic care, manual therapy, and strength and conditioning.

Experience

Jay has experience treating a wide range of orthopedic conditions and sports-related injuries, with an emphasis on athletic rehabilitation and return to sport. During his time at a sports-focused physical therapy clinic, he worked with high-caliber athletes across multiple sports, helping patients navigate recovery from injury and prepare for the physical demands of competition. He has a particular interest in ACL rehabilitation and baseball-related injuries, with an appreciation for the unique demands of throwing, hitting, and returning to competitive play. Jay is passionate about bridging the gap between rehabilitation and performance so athletes can return to their sports stronger, more confident, and better prepared for the demands of competition.

Philosophy

Jay believes physical therapy should be individualized, active, and centered on each patient’s goals. He combines evidence-based treatment, hands-on techniques when appropriate, and progressive exercise to help patients build confidence in their movement and develop long-term solutions rather than simply manage symptoms. His goal is to help every patient move better, get stronger, and return to the activities they enjoy with confidence.

Personal Life

Outside of the clinic, Jay enjoys playing slow-pitch softball, golfing, and spending time with his wife, Kasey, and their daughter, Scottie. His passion for sports and staying active complements his professional interest in helping others improve their strength, movement, and physical performance. Jay is proud to serve the Southern Maryland community and looks forward to helping patients of all activity levels reach their goals.
